Taken from the coconut plant (Cocos Nucifera), originally from the Indonesian archipelago, coconut oil has been used as a cosmetic by Tahitian women for centuries. It contains numerous saturate and unsaturated fatty acids, including lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, caprylic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid. It has highly nourishing properties and is used in cosmetics for skin products against dry skin and skin ageing, and for hair products for its restructuring and nourishing properties.
